Good evening amazing volunteers, We apologize for the late notice, but out of an overabundance of caution, HISD, working in partnership with the Houston Food Bank, has decided to cease our remaining HISD food distribution sites for both Thursday and Friday. As difficult as it was to come to this decision, safety is always the top priority, and we want to ensure that our staff, families, students, and communities are not being exposed to unnecessary harm as the COVID-19 epidemic continues to spread across our city. We know that our students and families are in great need of these nutritional supplies, so we are taking this pause to re-evaluate our structure, and develop a new means of feeding families as we move forward. Thank you for your commitment and support to our students and families during this unprecedented crisis. This effort provided over 25,000 families with critical sustenance during this pandemic, and without your support and the support of everyone that came together to bring this initiative to our communities, we would not have been able to pull off an undertaking of this magnitude. Sincerely, Candice Castillo Director, Family And Community Engagement EMPOWERING FAMILIES.
